This week at Monroe 27 June 23rd 2014

>
> Greetings from Germany!
> It’s already afternoon here, so it seems like I’m sending this later than usual, but not to you! We are officially dark now for the summer, but there are a couple of important dates I need to make you aware of. On July 4th, we will have our Family Fire Works at the temple. Bring the whole family out for some good food and fellowship, and of course fireworks! Also, we have set the date for our annual Temple cleanup day – that will be the 16th of August. The more hands, the lighter the work!
> On a sad note, Brother James Albain passed away yesterday. It is unknown at this time if a Masonic service will be requested, but we will keep you informed. >

> Good morning Brothers!
> I trust you all had a nice relaxing Father’s Day yesterday. I got a chance to spend some quality time with my son at the Motor Muster car show at The Henry Ford Greenfield Village – always a good time. Thanks go to Brian who filled in for me at our regular communication last week while I was away on business. This week will be our last Temple Board meeting before the summer. We will continue to have our Country Breakfast the first Saturday during the summer months, as well as fellowship on Wednesday nights, so don’t be a stranger. Also, I mentioned last week that Thistle Lodge in Amherstburg will be having a Master Mason degree on the 24th (next Tuesday). I was planning to go and take anybody wishing to tag along, but unfortunately, I will be out of the country again on business. But, if anyone would like to go, please do so – it is very interesting to see their degrees – much different than ours! >

> Hello Brothers!
> I trust you all had a good and productive weekend. We had a great turnout on Saturday for our Country Breakfast – thanks to all who work to make that happen! This Wednesday (6/11) will be our last regular communication before we go dark for the summer. We will still have fellowship every Wednesday of course, so keep that in mind. Next week will be our last Temple Board meeting before summer as well. I hope everyone can make it Wednesday – I unfortunately will be returning from a business trip to Canada, so I will not be able to make it. Speaking of Canada, Thistle Lodge will be putting on a 3rd Degree on Tuesday 6/24 at 8pm. I am planning to go to this, so if anybody else would like to go, let me know and we can meet at the Temple to car pool. You must have a passport or enhanced license to cross the border. >

> Hello Brothers!
> Well, we had an another unusually gorgeous weekend again in Michigan – that makes 2 in a row. This is unheard of, but I’ll take it! We had a great turnout for both the Awards Dinner and the Widows Dinner last week. Thanks to all who helped with those events! This week is our Euchre Tournament – 6pm Wednesday (6/4). Pizza will be provided and prizes will be awarded for most points and most loners. Everyone is welcome, so be sure to invite all your friends! This Saturday is our Country Breakfast, so be sure not to miss that as well. Next week (6/11) will be our final Regular Communication before going dark for the Summer. >

> Hello Brothers!
> I trust everyone got out and enjoyed a rare beautiful Michigan long weekend. Many of you probably gathered with family and friends to have a cookout or just some great fellowship time. But let’s not loose sight of the reason for Memorial Day. It is a day when we remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of our freedom. The saying “Freedom is never free” has never rung more true. As a veteran myself, I say to those who have fallen: “God bless you, and thank you. You are never forgotten.” >
> Ok, on to the business of the Craft. Tomorrow (5/28) is our Awards Dinner/Ceremony. Dinner is at 6pm and the awards ceremony will start at 7pm. We have 6 brothers who will be honored with various awards. Then this Saturday is our Widows Night. Dinner will start at 6pm and then entertainment will begin around 7pm. Since this is a catered event, the cost for dinner is $10. We will have 12 widows present, Brothers – I think this is the largest group in recent memory! Please, please make every effort to attend these events, as they are so important!
> Next week, (wow, we are already into June!) Wednesday June 4th, will be a Euchre Tournament. Entry fee is $10 and there will be prizes for most points and most loners. Pizza will be provided. And then of course is our monthly Country breakfast on Saturday (6/7) from 7-10am. >

>
> Hello brothers!
> What a beautiful weekend we had! But, it seems old man winter just doesn’t want to let go – we are supposed to have 1-3 inches of snow tonight!!
> This Wednesday (4/16) we have our monthly Temple Board meeting at 6pm. At 7pm we will open to conduct a Fellowcraft Degree. We have 2 brothers going through on this night. I know that our Chaplin and Junior Warden will be unable to make it, so I will be looking for some Past Masters to fill in. Also, we will be honored by the presence of the Grand Master of the State of Michigan, Right Worshipful Raymond C. Lemons. Everyone should make an effort to come out for this evening – it’s not often we have a Grand Master visit our lodge! Just a reminder, all officers should be dressed in tuxes for degree work.
> Next Wednesday (4/23), we will have fellowship only, as this is spring break and many folks will be out of town – yours truly included (Turkey season!!). >
